The course is designed for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their knowledge of the basic principles. You will learn the concepts of leading and following, we will introduce you to the idea of creating and sustaining a connection, and understanding the communication between the couple.
After attending this course the Thursday evening Continuing Tango class would be a natural next step.
Recent Beginners
The course is designed for recent beginners or those wanting to refresh their knowledge, it will develop your tango to enhance your vocabulary and fluency. You will learn more walking and pivoting; forwards & backwards ochos; the cross and variations; combinations of steps and pivots that will allow the introduction of walking turns; basic musicality; and, continue to develop connection and communication with your partner.
After attending this course the Thursday evening Continuing Tango class would be a natural next step. We have other events that you will find listed on the website.
You Don’t Need Special Clothes or Shoes
Please come to all classes in comfortable clothes, with low supple shoes (or socks), as well as your normal dance shoes – wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes that will not fall off. Leather soles are easier than crepe or rubber – try them out on a wooden floor, can you do the twist?
Ladies, you don’t have to wear heels and something with a strap is a good idea – court shoes and mules are not! Wear comfortable clothes and if you wear a skirt make sure you can do a big side step in it without being constrained.

This is a relaxed informal gathering of our dancers that will allow you to develop by dancing with a partner of different experience to your own. Apart form the opportunity to dance there is a friendly, social atmosphere where dancers are encouraged to watch, chat and eat cakes!
